Nonprofit Partner Spotlight: Hope for the Brave's annual Christmas Event

HEART, we work with many other organizations to provide them with the items they need for their own clients and events at a very low cost. With budgets tighter and prices higher than ever, they increasingly need HEART to provide them with brand new donations of goods that won't break the bank. Last December we were excited to work with Hope for the Brave to provide toys for the kids at their Christmas event. And then, even better - each kid also got to choose a gift for their parent and wrap it - many were sourced through HEART's redistribution center. What better way for us to give then through the generosity God shows us on a daily basis! It is amazing to watch these partner nonprofit organizations spreading joy and the love of God and know that we were able to help them do that.

The Executive Director and Founder of Hope for the Brave, Jennifer Flaherty, shared with HEART: "This year, we were blessed with the opportunity to serve approximately 570 members of our community at our Holiday Event—an event offered freely, just as Christ freely offers His love.

In a neighborhood marked by the weight of oppression, low income, and the generational wounds of violence, Yahweh allowed us to step in as His hands and feet.

Through His provision, we fed families, offered every child the joy of choosing a toy of their very own, and created a space filled with laughter, games, and the kind of hope that only the Holy Spirit can stir!!

One of the most beautiful parts of the event was giving children the chance to experience the gift of giving, as each child was also given the opportunity to shop for a gift for their mom or dad.

This was only made possible through the abundant items we received from Heart Ministry at very low administrative cost, and without Heart Ministry, this part of our mission simply would not have been possible.

Interestingly, no guest came to me directly to express how the event touched them. Instead, it was those who served who shared how deeply they were moved.

One example was Jennifer Fair from Oaks Church.

She was grateful to witness believers from different churches come together in unity.

She recognized some volunteers from her home church and met others from congregations she had never visited.

She said it felt like witnessing the Body of Christ in motion—“When the Body of Christ works together,” she said, “the joy and excitement just spreads.”

Jennifer’s daughter served alongside her, and her favorite moment came in the toy room. A 14‑year‑old girl approached quietly, searching for something to bless her cousin with. She didn’t realize she was allowed to choose a gift for herself. When she discovered a garden‑themed LEGO set, her eyes widened with excitement,  “Do I really get to have this?” she asked, with joy.

Through it all, we served in unity, under Yahweh, pouring out what He first poured into us.

This event was not, nor is it ever, just a gathering; it was a living testimony of Christ’s love made visible through His people.

We could not have done this without you."
