A Heart of Hope Amidst the Floodwaters: Help HEART Help Texas Hill Country Rebuild

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”  (Psalm 34:18)

The catastrophic flooding that swept through Kerr County and surrounding areas over the July 4th weekend has left a trail of devastation, claiming over 100 lives, including precious children at Camp Mystic, and leaving many more displaced or missing. At HEART Response Ministries, we are grieving for the losses alongside our brothers and sisters in Central Texas, and we hold fast to the hope found in Christ, trusting that His light shines even in the darkest storms.

A Call to Action

HEART Response Ministries is mobilizing to bring tangible help to those affected. We are thrilled to partner with Somebody Cares Houston, a ministry already deeply involved in the relief efforts in Texas.

Together, we are collecting funds to provide essential supplies—building materials to reconstruct homes, diapers for families with young children, cleaning supplies to restore what the floodwaters tainted, and batteries to power flashlights and hope in the darkness.

Our mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, offering practical aid and spiritual encouragement to those in need.

How You Can Help

We invite you to partner with us in this work through financial donations. Your donations will directly support families rebuilding their lives, providing them with the tools to restore their homes and the comfort of knowing they are not alone. We plan to purchase the items needed from wholesalers close to Texas Hill Country as much as possible to save on trucking from Minnesota.

Below is a list of critical needs and their estimated costs:

  • Rip out and replace sheetrock in an entire house: $8,000–$12,000 (depending on house size)

  • Cost of trucking building supplies to affected areas: $4,000 per truckload

  • Diapers for families with young children: $50 per family (weekly supply)

  • Cleaning supplies (bleach, mops, buckets, etc.): $100 per household

  • Batteries (for flashlights and essential devices): $20 per household

Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference—whether it’s funding a pack of diapers for a struggling parent or a truckload of supplies to rebuild a family’s shelter. You can donate online at our website, HEARTRT.org and choosing the "Texas Disaster Relief Fund", or by mail to: HEART Response Ministries, 1694 Vierling Dr E

Shakopee MN 55379 We are also coordinating with Somebody Cares and local nonprofit organizations, to distribute supplies efficiently and ensure they reach those in greatest need.

A Prayer for Texas

As we mourn, we also pray. We lift up the families who have lost loved ones, the first responders working tirelessly, and the volunteers serving selflessly. We pray for strength, as promised in Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” May this promise sustain the weary and guide us all toward a future of restoration.

A Light in the Darkness

Though the floods have brought devastation, we believe in the power of God’s love to redeem and rebuild. Through our partnership with Somebody Cares, HEART Response Ministries is committed to walking alongside the people of Texas Hill Country, offering not just supplies but the hope of Christ’s enduring presence. Together, with your support, we can help families rise from the ashes of this tragedy, rebuilding not just homes but lives filled with faith, hope, and love.

Thank you for joining us in this mission. Let us hold fast to 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” Together, we will see Texas Hill Country restored, stronger and more united than ever.

With hope and gratitude,

HEART Response Ministries

We are sending a truck and funds next week but we aren't planning an Impact trip just yet, so I don't have any details. We'll go in when rebuilding begins! We just sent a truckload of doors and windows to North Carolina so we stick around for the long haul. :)
